Janet Morris, CMT

Janet Morris is a certified massage therapist that answered the call to heal through massage and bodywork. She established her private massage therapy practice in 2000.

Beyond the traditional physical and mental focus of massage, she gives her clients the opportunity to experience "The Magnificence of Massage." She describes this as the laying-on of  hands experienced by the wholeself - the spirit, mind and body to heal, maintain and enhance health and well-being.  She incorporates Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy and functional assessment massage techniques to deliver client-centered sessions.

She is a graduate of the Potomac Massage Training Institute and currently serves on the faculty. The massage therapy program at Baraka grew out of her academic independent fieldwork project which was designed to introduce therapeutic massage to psychotherapists as a tool in healing.

She is certified and licensed to practice massage through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, the Maryland Board of Chiropractic Examiners, the Virginia Board of Nursing, the District of Columbia Health Department and Prince George's County. She is also a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association. As a Certified Infant Massage Instructor, she teaches parents how massage their infants to enhance bonding and development

She earned a Bachelors of Science in Mass Communication from Townson State University.   She has a professional background in corporate human resource management in the areas of professional development and training.

In addition to practicing massage and bodywork, she conducts workshops about the healing virtues of touch.  Janet  has seen and experienced physical, mental and spiritual healing on many levels through the laying-on of hands. She is grateful for the opportunity to use her gifts to bring a greater sense of connection and healing to families and the community.
